Chinese New Year is all about raking in angpaus, reunions and of course food. It was too early for the first (it was 2 days before CNY eve) so we settled for the last two.
This year our small gathering was at Restaurant Lucky Seafood at Paramount, Petaling Jaya. It’s just a few shops away from the Golden Dragon City Restaurant that we went last year. We were really fortunate that we arrived early because by 7pm the place was already fully occupied.
For appetizers we ordered a small portion of salmon yee sang. I was rather disappointed because the salmon slices weren’t fresh. I am very particular about salmon so i just had a few bites of the yee sang.
The Prawn Sauce Pork Ribs were good but slightly salty for my taste. The meat on the other hand was not hard and was fried to perfection. Love the crunchy bits!
I’m torn between the Baba Nyonya Asam Fish and the Treasure Chest Tofu because both were delicious. The fish was full of flavor and the meet smooth and sweet. The asam sauce makes it really appetizing while the long beans soaks up the sauce well.
The tofu on the other hand was a healthy alternative. The sauce was creamily good. Inside the tofu ‘chest’ was some white tofu, mushroom, green pea pods and bell pepper. On top of the chest was what i assumed was artificial shark fin. The sauce compliments the veges well.
Ah! Another one of my favorite. The Stir-Fried Bak Choy with Soya Sauce.
Just in case you don’t know i have recently became a vege eater. Not vegetarian i mean. It’s just that i don’t eat anything green before this but recently i’ve gotten to like at least certain types of green veges. So a big applause to me!
So anyways, at first the staff got our order wrong and served us with normal Stir-Fried Bak Choy. Apparently the always get this order wrong. I’m glad we had it changed because i think having soya sauce with it makes a lot of difference. Delicious!
The service here is alright but like every other restaurants nowadays, they employ foreign workers which i find i have difficulty in communicating with. But it doesn’t matter there are a few aunties (maybe the owner?) that could easily take your order.
