For mom’s birthday this year we had a get together at Restaurant Kar Hee. It comes highly recommended by my sister’s boyfriend who according to him the place has really good Chinese food at a reasonable price.
This particular restaurant is not easy to locate for first timers. You have to venture into the residence area in Taman Kok Lian to get there. I’m not too sure how to get there either. The only map i found online was this.

Even though there’s not much information about Kar Hee on the net, the place was packed with patrons, mostly big families. We were lucky we got a table immediately because we were early.
I had high expectations of this place and it turned out alright if not great. The food even though mediocre was extremely fresh especially the seafood.
The steamed tilapia fish was fresh and the flesh very smooth while the lala was quite tasty.
The other dishes we had was the fried rice, kangkung and white cut chicken. All the 3 dishes was alright. Nothing spectacular. Mom liked the chicken though… she said it was very sweet. I’m not a fan of white cut chicken so no comment.
We also ordered the creamy butter crab (1 kg) which turned out not as good as expectant. There are two type of creamy butter crab, one is creamy and another is a more diluted version. It was a mistake ordering the diluted one because it lacks the texture and aroma.
I can see why the place is always full house. The food is not 5 star… maybe i’ll rate it 3.5 but they make up with their good service and acceptable price. For all the dishes we ordered, it cost us only RM185.00 which is i think is very reasonable for a Chinese restaurant.
