A very belated Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! The whole week before Xmas was spent cleaning. I’m surprised at the amount of dust and rubbish i throw away every end of the year. LOL.

Well i have a few food post but unfortunately it’s without photos. It’s a nuisance not having a camera phone around when you need it. But i will post the review nevertheless with “borrowed” photos from other blogs again. Sorry >.<

Ok, maybe not today. Today i have one really outdated review that’s been seating on my desktop for ages now.

When we are really in a lazy mood we often venture the opposite shops from the condo. There are plenty of eatery nearby to satisfy the hunger although not the taste. And when we have a sudden crave for western food like chicken chop, it seems there are plenty of run-of-the-mill western restaurant nearby.

One of them is the corner shop named Blockhouse Eastern & Western Dining restaurant. I was skeptical since i had really a bad case of food poisoning from similar style restaurant elsewhere.

But seeing the place is always full of patrons, we went in and sat down.

The place is dimly lit and quite comfortable and the service fast.

The food however, wasn’t really good.

The chicken chop with cheese and the fried crab claw was alright but mediocre. I could taste the metal taste of the knife used to cut the salad appetizer. The sausage was ok but needs to be cooked longer.

The presentation wasn’t really appetizing either.

For such prices i could easily get better food elsewhere. But as i was saying, we were in a lazy mood :P .

Fried Crab Claw – RM6.80
Special Chicken Chop – RM15.80
Blockhouse Sausage and Mash Potato – RM16.90
Watermelon Juice – RM8.00

Jones Soda

Filed Under (Moolah Reviews) by kuanfoodfetish on 19-12-2009

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Jones Soda. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you heard of Jones Soda? Jones Pure Can Soda is a beverage company distributing soft drinks, non-carbonated beverages, candy and of course energy drinks. However, Jones Soda’s products are not anything you would call common.

It actually soda with a very cool design concept. Jones Soda’s drinks comes in out-of-your-mind and unusual flavors such as Jones Pure Cane Cream Soda, Jones Strawberry Line Pure Cane Soda and many more. The packaging label of the drinks are modern and colorful. It’s almost like a fashion statement. I especially love the Jones Zilch – Sugar Free Soda label designs. It’s very vintage with black and white pictures of people having fun.

Now if i was given a chance to personalize Jones Soda i would definitely do it as a wedding door gift. The label on the myJones custom soda would have a picture of my husband and i with the word “Just Married” stamped on it. It will be given to all our friends and family members at the reception.

It’ll look like this.

To go one step further, the soda drink would be Fufu Berry Jones Pure Cane Soda but i will rename it The “Love and Bliss Soda”. It’ll be pink and sweet like our reunion.

How would you customize your soda?

In Love with Royce Chocolate

Filed Under (Fruit and Dessert) by kuanfoodfetish on 19-12-2009

Sis brought back a back of something and gave it to mom. It’s a box of chocolate from her boyfriend. The packaging was very bulky for a small box of chocolate. It came in bubble wrap and with a pack of dry ice.

And i thought “Hmmmm… what so special about the chocolate. So kua cheong! Ceh! Surely it’ll just taste like any other A grade chocolate.”

But i was wrong.

Royce chocolate must be one of the best chocolate i’ve ever tasted. It’s exclusively from Japan and it’s available at airports i am told but you can get it from Isetan though i have no idea if the shop is still there after they reno this year.

Well, the bitter flavor chocolate is a little creamy and a little bitter with cocoa powder on top. It really melts in your mouth. It’s awesome!

Usher the New Year with Fun

Filed Under (Moolah Reviews, travel) by kuanfoodfetish on 19-12-2009

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of DiscoverLosAngeles.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

The new year is approaching fast. With just a blink of an eye it’s Christmas next week then the New Year the week after. My, how time flies!

What is your new year resolution for 2010? Mine is to earn more money and to lose the extra weight i put on this year. Wait. Scrap that. You know why? I’ll tell you. Every year without fail my new year resolution is to earn more money and of course to lose weight but i never managed to achieve my goal especially the later. It’s really pathetic. So, for 2010 i’m going to have fun and enjoy myself to the fullest. That is my new resolution. I’ll be a real lost case not to achieve that.

Now, what is the best way to start the new year and the new resolution? By checking into los angeles hotels. I can’t think of a better way to usher the new year than to celebrate it with friends and loved ones at one of the stylish hotels in LA. LA new year’s eve hotel specials may be the key to an awesome new year.

Beach House at Hermosa Beach would be the perfect choice. There’s nothing like a hotel on the beach to set the mood. Imagine counting down till New Year on the beach with the smell of the ocean and cool breeze in you hair.

I am considering Pet-Friendly Hotels in LA too such as the Omni Los Angeles Hotel Sheraton or the Best Western Hollywood Hills Hotel because i’m so attached to my dog and i can’t bare to leave her at home alone while i party the night away. The hotel in Hollywood seems like a good deal with boarding for $25 per night including pet-specific amenities such as pet treats, doggy beds and pet-sitting services. Aren’t hotels in los angeles wonderful?!

Hobahn Revisited

Filed Under (Food in Desa Park City, Food in Kuala Lumpur, Food in Malaysia, Korean Cuisine, Non Halal) by kuanfoodfetish on 19-12-2009

Oh i just found this folder with yummy pics of Korean food in Hobahn. It was pics taken last month during Pipu’s birthday. Being the Korean buff she is, she insisted that we dine in a Korean restaurant which wasn’t a bad idea since i really love Korean food.

Hobahn Korean Restaurant

Hobahn is one of my favorite place to have Korean food and it’s situated at Desa Parkcity. I’ve done a review a while back on it’s opening day. On the first visit the food was great but service was really bad.

However, this time around i’m glad to find that the service picked up and the food is even better. Definitely a good experience this time despite the above average price.

One thing to note though at Hobahn, unlike other Korean restaurant where bachan (Korean side dish) is served FOC and so is the refill, here at Hobahn you have to order the bacahn separately. The minimum Bachan Set cost us RM12.00 and you have to pay for refill. :(

Nevertheless the bachan was great. I especially love the anchovies with sesame seed.

We also had the Tteokbokki. It was really good and spicy.

There are two types on the menu actually. One is this one with kimchi and another is fried with pork which is equally superb.

The Bersot Bulgogi here is somewhat special. Instead on cooking it in stone pot. the beef and other ingredients are placed on top of crystal quartz platter to cook.

It took no time to be ready and was really an awesome dish. The gravy was super sweet and the beef delicious!

The small set here would be enough for 3 person.

Last but not least is the Dweji Galbi. It’s BBQ pork, my fav. I can’t stop myself reaching for another and another and another LOL.

It’s very tender and very aromatic. Will order again on the next visit.

Bersot Bulgogi (S) – RM28.00
Tteokbokki – RM12.00

Hyunmi Nokcha 1 pot – RM5.00

Total: RM91.30 (RM83.00 + 10% service)
