Apparently Vegemite is really big in Australia as well as other countries. Whether you love it or hate it, Vegemite is big enough to be main topics of discussions and debates. The “Marmite vs. Vegemite” theme has been argued for ages and ages. Avid Marmite fans can’t stand Vegemite and vice versa.

The only word i could use to describe loyal Vegemite lovers is “enthusiastic”… and they let the world knows it. LOL. Yeah all the craze and fuss over yeast extracts is incredible… and i just clicked on the “become a fan” button of Facebook. LOL.

Just for the record i love, love, love Marmite since i was a child and even now if there was Marmite in the kitchen it’ll be emptied by the end of the week. My favorite way of eating Marmite is to dilute half a spoon in hot water then mix with rice. I love Marmite mixed with porridge too. Delicious!

Dad used to tell me that it’s bad too take too much of Marmite because it’s made from oyster or something no doubet because of the runny brown paste very much like oyster sauce. Really! You can’t believe a word he says LOL. Thanks to him i always thought so until recently.

That’s a bit too much!

Vegemite taste similar to Marmite although not the same. Vegemite has a thicker and stickier appearance and it’s more salty compared to Marmite. Vegemite has a stronger taste to it and is slightly bitter. However, Vegemite doesn’t taste as good as Marmite if diluted, Vegemite somehow just taste extremely salty diluted and lost it’s flavor.

I find the best way to eat Vegemite is to spread it on toasts or crackers. A thin layer of Vegemite on toasts is great! No kidding. I’m a fan now.

Have a look at the cute commercial.

The Royal York is certainly an elegant building with its lovely Victorian architecture and setting. The handsome Victorian designed so well preserved, the beautiful fountain out in the park and the crystal chandelier all oozes vintage charm. Yet, hotel is surprisingly modern and up-to-date.

The hotel is very well equipped to cater for all level of guests. From tourists looking for a comfortable and luxurious stay to catering for large conference. Not only does Royal York Hotel has 167 rooms all with high speed internet connection and a work space, the hotel also features a purpose-built Events Centre, with breakout areas and capacity for 410 delegates theatre style. It’s perfect for conference meeting or other events.

One of the more interesting detail that caught my attention is that The Royal York Hotel offers a dedicated wedding planner just for you if you ever going to hold a wedding dinner at the hotel. It would be great because everything gets done without hassle. That’s just perfect.

Boyfriend brought back a bottle of Kraft Vegemite and bottles of Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, a Root Beer and a Sarsaparilla. Both Australian product brought from Cold Storage.

I was wondering why the sudden influx of Aussie products in Cold Storage. I certainly never spotted Bundaberg brand before this. The boyfriend being the usual blurpot have no idea… and then i saw this article in the newspaper this morning.

Supermarket chain offering 150 new Australian products

TEMPTING leading food brands from Australia are back again at Cold Storage supermarkets.

From now until Nov 8, shoppers can find their favourite Australian products at all Cold Storage stores nationwide.

This culinary treat is a joint initiative with Austrade, Bemco Australia Pte Ltd and many other suppliers.

Branded as “Taste Australia”, more than 150 new products of various leading Australian brands have been brought in just for the food fair.

“The products include biscuits, confectionary, canned vegetables, snack bars, juices, soups, snacks, spreads, dessert mixes, confectionery, olive oil, baby food, wines, dairy products and environmentally friendly laundry and household cleaning products,’’ said marketing director of GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd (the owner of Cold Storage) Ho Mun Hao.

“We are in constant partnership with Taste Australia and we are proud to be part of this campaign.

Taste Australia is a celebration of Australian food and while the goal of the Australian Government is to promote Australian products, our objective is to continuously offer customers greater variety and quality food choices,” he said.

Other participating Australian brands include Waterthins, Arnott’s, Jarrah, MasterFoods, Young Made, Rositas, Heinz, Blackmores, Earth Choice, San Remo, Stromboli Berri, Farmhouse, Cowhead, Yoplait, Bulla, Tucker, Bega, Outback Jack, Kangaroo Ridges, Taylors, River Gum, Brown Brothers, Little Penguin, Jacob’s Creek, Wolf Blass and Eaglehawk.

During the promotion period, consumers will get a koala bear soft toy with every purchase of RM100 in a single receipt (while stocks last and applicable for purchases under Bemco’s range of products only).

I guess it’s in conjunction with Aussie Food Festival (remember the awesome stunt on Harbour Bridge?)

I have one question. Why no wombat soft toy to give away??!!

Arthritis Relief

Filed Under (Health, Moolah Reviews) by kuanfoodfetish on 29-10-2009

Arthritis is more often than not a painful condition that involves damaged joints in the body. It is a kind of disease that mostly affects people of age although not necessary so and sometimes the pain might disrupt a patient’s everyday life. It is definitely not a disease to be taken lightly.

There are many different types of arthritis such as osteoarthritis (caused by degradation of joints), rheumatoid arthritis (systemic inflammatory disorder that may affect many tissues and organs), gout (by elevated levels of uric acid in the bloodstream) and others. One thing all these types of arthritis in common is that it affects the joints causing inflammation and often series of acute pain.

Arthritis patients find it difficult to perform normal daily activities. Even opening water bottles or can drinks with pull tabs would be too painful and difficult.

That is where Arthritis Products comes in the picture. The product, Open Sesame doesn’t take away the pain but help reduce unnecessary movement that causes discomfort and pain so I would call it an Arthritis Relief. Open Sesame is a one of a kind arthritis pain relieve bottle opener, a device that helps make arthritis sufferer relief pain while doing their everyday routine.

Twisting a water bottle cap, opening a fizzy drink tin cap or pulling the pull tab from a can drink has never been easier even with inflamed knuckles and joints. This Arthritis Help product defines independence for sufferers because they no longer need to depend on other people for such a menial task.

A bonus point is Open Sesame comes with a handy magnet at the back so losing it is not an option. It could simply be placed on the fridge where it’s easy to grab. It might be worth a try.

Birthday Dinner at home

It’s a sign of aging when you prefer to sit at the comfort of your home and enjoy a quite birthday dinner while watching sitcoms for laughs. Instead of driving out for boyfriends birthday dinner, he went to Porto Roman near his office to have a take-away. How boring could we get Haha!

But let’s not get into the boring details. Let’s talk about food instead.

I love Porto Romano’s food since my first visit. The pizza and salad is exceptionally good. One of our favorite is the Devil’s Pizza (extra spicy) and i am glad that Porto Romano is keeping to it’s standard. The Devil’s Pizza is still awesome as before!

This time we tried a different kind of salad called the Albanian Village Salad. It’s a Greek-styled salad with tomatoes, super fresh cucumber, onions, olives and yummy, yummy feta cheese drowned in extra virgin olive oil. I love feta cheese with salads. Delicious!

We paired the food with almost the whole Cabernet Sauvignon. Ok, i know it’s the wrong wine for the wrong food… we should have get Merlot instead but it’s the only bottle in the house LOL… and it wasn’t bad… even with the wrong kind of wine glass >_<. Oh well! Cheers!

Everything including the red wine cost less than RM80.00. Now who says you can't have a proper birthday meal under a budget?
