There’s a spanking new Korean eatery at Desa Parkcity named Hobahn Korean Restaurant. It’s on the same row with the pharmacy behing Kluang Station and New Zealand Natural.
It so happens that we were there on the opening night and it was full house. All the tables were occupied and the staff was buzzing around placing orders.
But i should warn you that it’s not a very good idea to visit a restaurant on it’s opening day… well, i think it’s a bad idea to visit any restaurant on the opening week for that matter. You see, sometimes they aren’t very ready for a surge of customers, ingredients might not be adequate, number of staff might not be enough. Thus, the waiting game if you are patient enough and the none existance customer service if you are tolerant enough. LOL.
Hobahn Korean Restaurant is nicely furnished. Very simple and comfortable. But i was puzzled because there weren’t any extandable suction vacuum that most Korean BBQ restaurant have.
I really would hate my hair and clothes smelling of smoke if i had BBQ here. LOL.
Aside from that, the food was good with many selection on the menu. The Jeyuk Bokgeum was superb. Boyfriend loved this dish. It’s marinated pork cooked with onions and cabbages. Very fragrant and sweet.

Haemul Doenjang Dolsot Bibimbap
He had the Haemul Doenjang Dolsot Bibimbap ala cart which also comes in a set if you would like. Not a fan of bibimbap, i was surprised that i rather like this dish. I was expecting the serving to taste like dry fried rice because i had that kind of experience elsewhere. But pleasantly, it wasn’t dry at all and the sweet sauce paried with pieaces of squids was excellent.
Portion wise in Hobahn is large. Both the bibimbap and the Tukbaegi Bulgogi set could have easily feed 2 persons instead on 1.
The Tukbaegi Bulgog set was one of the best Korean bulgogi broth i’ve eaten. The broth was thicker than usual and extremely sweet. The beef comes in generous serving as you can see from the photo. (I know it looks gross but it taste wonderful). However, the side dishes was limited to 5 only 9as compared to 10 at Daorae) with a small bowl of cold ginger tea.
The only negative thing is we waited about 30minutes for the food to arrive and it’s very hard to catch the staff’s attention. They have only 3 employees on the floor. Some of the patrons waited almost an hour for food and it took so long to place order. Those who could not wait stomped out of the restaurant.
But let’s give them benefit a doubt. It is after all their first day opening for business and things are a bit chaotic. However, i am sure the service would improve tremendously in the future.
Jeyuk Bokgeum – RM22.00
Haemul Doenjang Dolsot Bibimbap ala cart- RM19.00
Tukbaegi Bulgogi Set – RM22.00
Hyunmi Nocha (rice green tea 1 pot) – RM5.00
Total: RM74.80 (RM68.00 + RM6.80 service)

The BBQ was superb however we found 2 hairs inside the Bibimbap which make all of us lost our appetite!
