Very super macho ain’t he LOL!

But let’s ignore the macho man and focus on the delicious food he is selling. This vendor happens to sell the most delicious pau ever.

This pau vendor does his pau business in Kepong (at the intersection of Wai Sik Kai) at night til about 11pm.

And this pau vendor happens to sell my favorite pau which is the ‘char siu pau’ and ‘sang yuk pau’!

Although the pau is not very big in size, the pau filling is really good. The char siu is not mostly fats which i detest and most important the pau skin is thin and soft. Don’t you just hate those pau in dim sum shops with really thick skins? Yucks!

You’ve got to try it to know what i mean so if you’re feeling hungry and is in that area, do stop by and pay the macho vendor a visit. :P

What does “Typically Swiss” means to you?

I don’t know about you but i tend to associate the word “Swiss” with quality and luxury of finer things in life. Everyone heard of Swiss watches, the Swiss Army knife, the Zurich bank and many more well known Swiss product and services that reflect nothing but excellence.

However, when mention about “Typically Swiss”, mountains and Alps and panoramic landscapes come across my mind because Switzerland is indeed a very beautiful and natural country. Therefore, a typical Swiss hotel therefore must encompass all aspect of being luxurious yet within the breathtaking landscape of Switzerland.

When i’m travelling abroad i always like to stay somewhere that is comfortable and stylish but most important, somewhere that i could experience the natural surrounding and culture of the country. A typical Swiss hotel has all of that.

For me, my favorite Swiss hotel is the Boutique-Hotel Schlüssel. It exudes the quality authentic Swiss.

Street Food in Chiang Mai

While venturing out into the streets for food in Chiang Mai, we thought we would try the very famous street that’s supposed to be lined with food vendors at night. It’s very near to the Old City’s wall.

We walked all the way there and it was getting really late. There were dozens of stalls all right, selling all kind of food. However, everywhere stalls were occupied by local patrons and the vendors doesn’t seemed to speak English. The only foreigner eating at these stalls were farangs with local girlfriends. LOL

English menu!

After trying to buy some local pastries from a stall and finding it too difficult to communicate with the vendors we headed back towards our guest house. On the way we stumbled upon a street hawker which surprisingly had a handful of foreigners eating at his stall. They had English menu!

If my memory serves me right, the vendor was in front of the Smile guesthouse or very near it.

The food was fantastic and very flavorful.

The pork was very, very sweet. Two thumbs up.

My favorite have got to be the Pataya Fried Tauhu. Slightly spicy and very appetizing!

NAKANO Seasoned Rice Vinegar

Filed Under (Health, Moolah Reviews, Recipes) by kuanfoodfetish on 20-08-2009

I have made a pack with the boyfriend that we will eat more fruits and vegetables every weekend starting from last weekend. It’s all about my craze over healthy living which means we have got to eat more healthily. So, more fruits and veggies and less fast food.

This weekend we are planning to make fruit salad. I’ve got a list of everything that we need to purchase from the supermarket which of course includes vinegar. Don’t you just love the dash of vinegar in your salad that’ll give you the extra flavor? I love it! I can’t believe that mom use to make salad with mayonnaise.

So anyways i found a really neat brand of rice vinegar online by the name NANAKO by Mizkan brand. NAKANO Seasoned Rice Vinegar comes in many flavors like Italian Herb Seasoned Red Wine Vinegar, Basil & Oregano Seasoned Rice Vinegar, Balsamic Blend Seasoned Rice Vinegar and many more. This means that there are different types of seasoned vinegar that you could use for all types of recipe.

The most important point is that NANAKO is made from whole grain rice, is all natural, fat free, low calories, gluten free vinegar and contains 50% less sodium than other rice vinegar brands. If you’re on a strict diet than this is the perfect thing as an alternative to your usual salad dressing because the number of calories is way lower in calories than let say over the counter top mayonnaise.

For a liited time only Mizkan is giving away 1 dollar NANAKO coupon onlline so check out the website to find out more information about the fantastic rice vinegar.

Nippon Tei, KLCC

It was the night we were meant to attend the Preservation Hall Jazz Band at MPO. The seating was to commence at 8.15pm but we arrived at KLCC a little late and worse without having dinner yet. Fortunately the food came quickly at Nippon Tei that day as compared to the last time we were there and had to wait for at least half an hour to arrive.

Nippon Tei

Nippon Tei is a cozy place for Japanese meal but the selection of sushi is not much. Most of the option on the menu are teriyaki and tepanyaki bento sets.

Rainbow Roll

Of the few choice of sushi and rolls we placed order on the Rainbow Roll which turned out to be quite delicious. The sushi roll are wrapped with colorful fresh ingredients like avacodo, beef, salmon, prawn and squid sashimi and it tasted great.

Salmon Teppanyakii

Other than the roll, the salmon teppanyaki set and seafood teppanyaki set we had was quite good too although i must say that the portion is really too big for us.

Seafood Teppanyakii

As for the seafood set, it’s actually only salmon and the 2 large prawns which Mr. Bf testified to be exceptionally delicious.

One regret is that although the food is good, the price is actually quite high for this standard of Japanese food. I could definitely get similar or even better meal somewhere else for a cheaper price.

Not a place to visit very often.

Teppanyaki Seafood Set – RM35.00
Teppanyaki Salmon Set – RM28.00
Rainbow Roll – RM26.00
Total: RM102.35 (RM89.00 + RM13.35 service and tax)
