While Ratana’s Kitchen is not the best place for authentic Thai food, it was the only eatery within walking distance to out guest house. The scorching sun was really unbearable in the late afternoon, if it had not been because we were terribly hungry after the journey from Bangkok, we would have tucked ourselves comfortably on our hotel bed enjoying the air-con.
Ratana’s Kitchen serves Thai food as well as English meal (breakfast too). The Thai food is kind of toned down to suite tourists’ taste. I did not have high expectation since it’s a tourist haunt. LOL.
The first thing we ordered were of course ice cold water to quench our thirst. It was so hot i was feeling a little dizzy.
They serve decent seafood tom yum. It’s not very strong or thick and not too spicy. Mediocre to say the least but still nice enough for us to finish the whole bowl.
I noticed that Thailand have great tasting pork. This fried vegetable with pork is no difference. A simple dish but the pork was very sweet. Yummy!
One of the best thing i had in Ratana’s is the mango sticky rice. Definitely the best i ever had. The sticky rice and the santan was so rich in flavor that i almost licked the plate! The mango was the sweetest too. I’m drooling while recalling that dish. It was superb.
