While checking out MBK mall in Bangkok, we came across a rather interesting restaurant named Chaowdin Buffet or Khanom Jin on the 5th floor, opposite the popular international food court. It’s a buffet style restaurant serving all-you-can-eat Thai rice noodle for just a mere 59Baht per pax. That’s only about RM5.90 for a buffet dinner!
The place is packed with people with majority locals and just 2 or 3 couple of foreigners. Except for a couple the foreigners seemed to be enjoying to meal and obviously so were the locals. As we enter into the restaurant, we were quickly seated and we ordered drinks before joining the buffet line.
The buffet line consist of large containers containing 8 types of broth/soup to go with the Thai noodles. Some were sweet curry and some like ‘rendang’ with meat. One of the container has coconut milk. On the side are plates with different kind of vegetables for your selection.
Mr. Bf and i went to take our food separately so we could keep an eye on our shopping bags. Coincidentally we selected the same type of broth and similar vegetables for our Thai noodle which we later utterly regret!
It was the spiciest thing we had ever eaten!
Serious. I’ve never tasted anything so spicy before and trust me i can normally eat really spicy stuff. This is beyond spicy. I could practically feel my lips and inner mouth burn, just one mouthful and my stomach felt like it was on fire.
Silly us for picking the most apicy broth on the buffet line. The fact is i didn’t even noticed the pot full of red chilies until we left and took a second look. LOL.
We left after just one spoonful and spent the whole night without eating because our stomach was on fire.

[...] word of caution though if you happen to be interested for a visit to the Chaowdin Buffet (Khanom Jin). They may offer an out-of-this-world price of 590Baht (RM5.90) for an all-you-can-eat buffet but [...]
