Koryo-Won Korean Smoke BBQ Restaurant

Hello there! Finally i’m back after almost 2 months of deserting this food blog :). And this time i’m back with more food news locally and a few from Thailand.

But before that i’m going to blog about the yummy Korean dinner i had for my birthday. Ok, my birthday was a month ago and this post is a little outdated but what the hell :P. But i must warn that i already forgot some details about the whole affair but i will try my best.

On my birthday, Mr. Bf brought me to Koryo-Won Restaurant in Starhill for Korean cuisine. Actually the day before i already had Korean with a bunch of friends at Daorae but i am crazy about Korean food anyways. So there we were at Koryo-Won. I must admit i really love the restaurant’s majestic wooden interior - great ambience and lighting for a nice quiet dinner with love ones.

The restaurant offers quite a long list of dishes for selection. After a quick survey, we decided on the ‘Jumuluck’ (smoked charbroiled rib-eye and sirloin lightly marinated with Koryo-Won’s special BBQ recipe), the ‘Bulgogi Jung Sik’ (hotpot with thinly sliced beef with kimchi, modum namul, boiled rice, soup and fruit) and ‘Ddukboggi’ (Korean traditional rice cake with noodle).

I heart kimchi!

As you know Korean cuisine is famous for it’s smoke BBQ and Koryo-Won is known to offer the finest smoke barbeque cuisine in Klang Valley. Naturally we must try the BBQ!

So many side dishes…

I quite like the BBQ beef and chicken at Daorae but the ‘Jumuluck’ at Koryo-Won is even better. The  marinated sirloin was very tender and sweet with a tad of spiciness to it. Simply superb!

Another plus is that the ventilation and the dedicated vacuum at this place is great compared to Daorae. No lingering smoke smell on the hair :P.

Definitely Mr. Bf’s favorite dish of the night.

On the other hand, my all time favorite at any Korean restaurant is the ‘Bulgogi Jung Sik’. The broth was extremely thick and sweet. They were generous on the beef too. Very tasty indeed.

Since it was my birthday and i don’t have a birthday cake that night, i guess the rice cake will do right? Haha. Afterall, i loved Korean rice cake :P.
