Rakuzen, Desa Park City Revisited

For Mr. Bf’s birthday we opted for something affordable and something that my sensitive stomach would agree upon. We went for a second visit to Rakuzen Japanese Restaurant. That and because it’s pretty near our place.

We enjoyed Rakuzen’s Yakinikujyu, Unagi Yanagawa and Stamina Roll on our first visit. This time we ordered something different. We had Coral Roll, Kaki Fried Zen and Teppanyaki Zen. Initially we wanted to order the Caterpillar Roll but they ran out of avocado. Dang, i love avocado :( It’s a good idea to be there early.

Anyways, back to our order.

So instead of Caterpillar roll we tried the Coral Roll which is basically salmon roll with huge roe on top. Not bad, not bad. I don’t think they can do any wrong with rolls here.

However, i was pretty disappointed this time around because my Teppanyaki Zen was a disaster. I asked for the teppanyaki beef to be medium rare (or so i thought) but i got medium instead. Ok, nevermind. I took a bite and did have the heart to finish it. The beef was so difficult to chew! After a few pieces i gave up and left unfinished.

The teppanyaki set also comes with a bowl of garlic rice. Sad to say that this is quite disappointing too. The rice is a little bland and tasteless. I had better garlic rice at BBQ Plaza than this lor.

The only thing that i find nice about this set is the vegetables (cabbage, capsicum and bean sprout), chawanmushi and the miso soup. Sigh…

Mr. Bf the birthday boy got himself a set of Kaki Fried Zen which is fried oyster tempura style. The set also comes with rice, chawanmushi and miso soup.

This is a good dish to try for those who don’t fancy raw oyster. I can’t eat raw oyster or poorly cooked oyster coz i’m afraid of the juices that taste fishy. However, the tempura oyster was pretty yummy and the 5 pieces of oyster was huge!

Total: RM110.40 (RM96.00 + RM 14.40 – service and tax)

After our trip to Sungai Klah we stopped by at Pun Chun Restaurant, Bidor for the famous Duck Drumstick Noodle. I’ve heard all about it but have not tried it till now.

The soup base is really aromatic and sweet due to the many hebs used and the many hours of boiling.

Last night seemed to be a good day for dining out especially since mom was too tired too cook after our day trip to Sungai Klah. Dad brought us to one of his favorite place for fish head (no not fish head noodle).

Jinjang Fish Head Restaurant is popular for it’s Thong San fish specialty among residence in Kepong especially in Taman Bukit Sri Bintang where it is located.

After tasting the fish, i know why my dad loves this shop. Reasonable price aside (the fish only cost RM20), the special sauce fish is really delicious. The star of the dish is the sauce/gravy that is sour and spicy and heavy with the taste of parsley. I of course heart it because it’s very, very sour.

There are 5 other kind of fish gravy on the menu such as ginger, asam and teo chew steam. We will probably return to try others next time.

Other dishes was equally yummy. I always love steam egg especially with fried onions on top.

Pork Knuckle

The pork knuckle was good but not really great. Nevertheless that didn’t stop us from globbling the whole of it. The pork itself was dry but served with sour gravy (tasted like vinegar plus lemon or lime) which was good.
