Since the first visits to Krua Thai Restaurant, i’ve been dying for another visit. Other Thai restaurants just don’t serve food as good as it is here.

seafoodtomyam
Seafood tom yam – squid, clams, prawns, oyster mushroom, sliced fish

Although their closing hour is suppose to be 11p.m., they are still welcoming customers even when it’s 10.40 p.m. Now that’s what i call good customer service.

We ordered the tom yam seafood this time. One thing good about being the last few customers is that we get different sea food ingredients on each visits. I remember last time there were crabs and huge prawns. I guess it depends on the ingredients that they have left over. This time it’s prawns and “la la” (clams) together with other ingredients.

spicychicken
Minced Chicken with Chili Padi

We were being idiotic adventurous when we decided to have the extra spicy minced chicken. The staff warned us it’ll be dead spicy since the chicken is mixed with tiny chopped “chili padis” (chilies) but we still ordered it anyways. To summarized things, those who can’t take spicy food please do not act hero by trying this. We practically had fumes coming out of our head!

I didn’t really liked it though coz the taste of parsley and basil leaves kinda cover the taste of chicken. I hate parsley.

mixvege
Mix Vegetable – carrot, mushroom, cabbage, cauliflower, chicken, green bean, baby corn

The food is good as always. If you’re lucky you might catch the staff singing with the karaoke set. He’s not so bad at all. :P

Tomyam Seafood- RM20.00
Minced Chicken with Chili Padi – RM13.00
Mix Vege – RM10.00
Rice – RM3.00 (x3)
Chinese Tea – RM1.00 (x2)
Total – RM47.00

ABC Soup Recipe

This is the third time i’ve attempted to boil soup. The first 2 attempt was somewhat not so successful. *don’t laugh -_-”.

Today i’ve tried my hands on ABC soup. By the way it’s called ABC soup coz it contains all the vitamins mentioned. It’s actually the easiest soup to make. There’s no exact measurement of ingredients. Just dumped in accordingly to your own preference and no. of servings :P .

Ingredients (for servings of 8 – 9 person)
==============================

6 potatoes
7 carrots
6 big onions
6 tomatoes
1 small piece of ginger
5 chicken breast halves
1 handful of “Ham Choy”/salty preserved vegetable

ingredients
Ingredients

First of all make sure that the chicken breast is cut into smaller pieces so that it is easier when it comes to serving. I always make sure that every traces of chicken fats are removed (especially if you are using other then chicken breasts) before putting it into the pot. The soup will be less oily that way.

chopped
Cubed carrots and potatoes

Next, peel the potato and carrot skins and chopped it up into cubes. Same goes the tomatoes. Remove the onion and ginger skins and sliced it if you like. For me, i’ll just dump the whole onion in the pot. *my family loves eating the whole onion. Remember to slice the “ham choy”.

Ham choy

Mom thought me a trick. Before putting the chicken into the pot, she will soak it in a bowl of hot water. That’ll do away the metallic smell of raw chicken.

After that, just fill the big pot with water till it’s half full and put all the ingredients into the pot to boil. After the water starts to boil, keep the flame slow for another hour. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and the soup is ready for serving. (Normally i would add 1 teaspoon of salt but the “ham choy” is quite salty already). Yummy!

I think my food blog is going down the drain coz bf and i are broke and most important thing is i’m on diet (for health reason) *wakaka!

Anyways, i just found out that there is a new type of Vitagen in the market. It’s called Vitagen Collagen with a fancy packaging too. Yup, Vitagen is cashing in cosmeceutical food (beauty food) that has taken us by storm.

vitagen_collagen
Vitagen Collagen – LB Original

If you didn’t know, collagen is known for its benefits in smoothing, firming and hydrating all skin types. Collagen is also useful as an anti-aging supplement. Vitagen Collagen contains an amount of collagen peptides (500mg), vitamin C and probiotics that’ll help maintain a healthy digestive system, skin and bones. It also contains less sugar and is fat free.

There are 3 flavors which are Rose, Lavender and LB Original which is the same as the normal original Vitagen. However, the price of this new range is a bit higher than the normal ones. It’s RM3.90 for original Vitagen, RM4.20 for Vitagen Less Sugar and RM6.20 for Vitagen Collagen.

I think i’ll stick to the Vitagen Less Sugar.

Seremban Siew Pau

We were at Seremban to take care of some personal business last weekend. Of course we didn’t missed out on the famous ‘siew pau’. No one can say that they have step foot on Seremban without tasting the yummy ‘siew pau’.

keemei
Kee Mei Siew Pau

It’s best eaten fresh out of the oven while the chicken/pork fillings is still steaming hot. We bought a dozen and gobbled all up while driving back to KL. *wakaka!

What’s inside?

I swear it taste different from those we get in KL. Although the dough comes from Seremban also, KL siew pau somehow doesn’t taste just as good.

A dozen tasty siew pau!!

Too bad it was on a Sunday. Most of the shops and restaurant was closed. We were dying to try the chicken curry baked in bread. Maybe next time then.

Porto Romano, Flavors of the Mediterranean

Porto Romano is an unassuming restaurant/bar located on the ground floor of City Square. You’ll spot the big Porto Romano sign once you see the building. It’s just right next to the entrance. Here you’ll get to enjoy the best of Greek, Spanish, Albanian and Italian cuisines.

The restaurant is cozy, quiet and very, very relaxing. The vibrant background music gives it an extra romantic setting. Very suitable for a quiet dinner for couples. However, this restaurant (especially the bar) is mostly frequent by expatriates. Mostly those who works at the buildings nearby. It’s a great hang out place for a drink or two after a harrowing day.

The staffs are friendly. Customer service is excellent and food we ordered arrived extremely quick. I think we only waited for like less than 10 minutes.

mushroom_soup
Cream of Mushroom Soup

The food was quite exceptional. We had the Cream of Mushroom Soup. It’s made out of three different mushrooms; grey oyster, fresh button and shitake. I find it not as smooth as other mushroom soup i had. It has a thick creamy texture to it. Kind of like a mushroom chowder. Good stuff.

seafood_salad_combo
Seafood Combo

The Seafood Combo salad served in a lovely clamshell looks pretty inviting. The salad have a mixture of seafood such as mussels, clams, prawns, squid among other things. Everything marinated in herbs, lemon juice and olive oil for flavour *did i make your mouth water? LOL. It was pretty good except i wished it was served really cold with extra lemon. I know i have weird taste but i like it cold coz it’ll taste more fresh.

What i love the most is the thin crust pizza. We had the Diavola(Devils) Pizza (cheese and pepperoni pizza) which is quite huge (8 chunky slices) for the two of us. Nevertheless, we managed to finish it coz it’s so delicious and it’s spicy! The cheese is quite thick and spongy plus the dough is pretty soft and really thin so it doesn’t over power the toppings. I really hate the taste of thick and hard dough of some pizza. It’s like eating bread instead of pizza. I give this two thumbs up. Oh yeah, try not to put too much of the Porto Romano’s tobasco chili. It’s darn spicy. *don’t say i didn’t warn you.

peperroni_pizza
Pepperoni and cheese pizza

Overall the food is great, customer service is excellent and the price is very affordable. It was actually surprised that our bill came to a mere RM70++. The pizza actually cost less than those from Pizza Hut or Domino’s LOL. Next visit (when we’re not so full) we’ll try the signature dish. Lamb Shank! *only RM20++ i think

Seafood Combo Salad – RM17.00
Cream of Mushroom Soup – RM12.00
Pizza Diavola (Devil Pizza) – RM25.00
Fresh Lime Juice x2 – RM12.00

Total – RM75.90 (RM66.00 + RM3.30 – tax + RM6.60 – service)
