How about this interior?
It’s the Red Door Cafe & Restaurant located at Jusco Metro Prima shopping centre.
Here, we dined on nyonya cuisines… Actually the wooden and Asian interior of the restaurant gave it all away didn’t it? ![]()
I wasn’t up for heavy food so i selected the Seaweed Noodle.
It actually tasted the same as ‘sar hor fun’ but instead of the ‘hor fun’ the thick mihun was used. There’s nothing really special about this dish. I find it too bland and the soup too diluted. The shreds of seaweed did make the noodle more tasty.
He tried the Hainan chicken chop. Chicken chop is one of his favorite dish -_-” *i don’t get it.
The gravy is sweeter compared with western style chicken chop’s mushroom gravy because of its different ingredients. The onions, potato and carrots adds to the sweet taste of the gravy. Even though i didn’t like it all that much, he seemed to like it.
Top Hats or “Pai Tee” are my favorites. If it’s in the menu, i’ll sure be the first to order.
Top Hats are typical nyonya delicacy. Turnips, carrots and shrimp are shredded before placed into the crispy hats. It’s delicate, crispy and a tasty finger food. Just dip in in chili sauce and pops it into your mouth. Yummy!
The otak otak (fish cake) has a real compact and thick texture. Very very aromatic too. I think it’s was quite good but it was too spicy for me. LOL.
I ordered apple juice but it tasted weird. It had a very ‘green’ taste. Like raw apples if there is such a thing. Actually the foreign waiter made a mistake and served me ‘kedondong juice’ (avacado pear) instead. I only noticed it when i saw the receipt -_-”
Seaweed Noodle – RM6.80
Hainan Chicken Chop – RM8.80
Top Hats – RM3.50
Kedondong Juice – RM3.80
Iced Chinese Tea – RM1.50
Otak Otak – RM2.50
