On Christmas day we went for lunch at Restaurant Tanjung Dua (KL) at Manjalara, Kepong. It was crowded as usual. Even with the extra tables set up along the pavement, it was difficult to get a sit.

Restaurant Jalan Tanjung 2 crowded with hungry people

I was told that this restaurant is most famous for its fried spaghetti dish so i ordered just that. EatAllYouCanShung ordered the wan tan mee.

25
How lucky am i? no. 25 on 25th Dec 2007!

Since the spaghetti was an all time favorite dish and judging by the amount of tables with the yellow no. tag, we had to wait for quite some time to be served.

coolbreezy
Jam packed even on the top pavement beside the street

To be honest, the presentation wasn’t much and doesn’t look too appetizing. However, it was worth the wait because it taste hell alot better than it looked *wakaka!

friedspagettti

If you prefer something else rather than he bacon and egg, there are other selections. If i’m not mistaken there are steaks or chicken chop served with the fried spaghetti.

wantanmee
Wan tan mee

The wan tan mee was not bad too. Both dishes cost around RM4.00 each which makes it even more enjoyable :P .

In all, it was pretty good food that comes with dirt cheap price. So, if you don’t mind the wait, just hop over for a quick lunch.

Here’s a small eatery i often visit. The food and the boss (don’t get any funny idea here) always makes me feel better after an emo session.

D’licious Hot Pot Restaurant is run by a husband and wife team. The man-boss is a very friendly and charming Malaysian while the woman-boss a Taiwanese, equally polite and hospitable.

d'lcious
The handsome boss wakaka!

D’licious offers customers yummy authentic Taiwanese food. The dishes are simple yet delicious!

There are several types of hotpot to choose from. There’s D’licious Hot Pot, Japanese Style Hot Pot, Thai Style Hot Pot, Korean Style Hot Pot and so on. Most have similar ingredients such as prawns, squids, cabbages, oyster mushrooms, enokitake mushrooms (needle mushrooms), beef balls, beancurd skins and such. However, for Korean Style HotPot Thai Style there will be kimchi, Thai Style Hot Pot will have tom yam soup… so you get the idea right?

japanesehotpot
Bonito on top

We had the Japanese Style Hot Pot this time coz we love the dried bonito flakes. For those who always had Japanese food and wondered what are those thin brown flakes made of, it is actually skipjack tuna smoked, dried and then skinned into thin slices.

jasminetea
I crave for this so often!

Another reason to love this place is because they serve the best jasmine tea with a sprinkle of green tea powder on top. Its common and can be found at any eatery but i still prefer it here. It really tastes better *I swear!

D’licious is most famous for it’s beef noodle but we always ordered that so we decided to try something new. We had the ‘Dung Bo Noodle’. It tasted like mee goreng actually but more aromatic. Quite good actually.

dungpohmee
Blurry pic… I damn hungry la wei! Hand shake dy.

There are varieties of snacks or side orders on the menu too. Like Taiwanese sausages, dumplings, spring roll and etc.

frieddumpling
Cute fried dumpling

The fried dumpling – ‘sui gao’ was absolutely crunchy and yummilicious. The mayonnaise was quite good too. I’m not sure if it’s home-made but it’s didn’t taste the same as normal mayo. It’s pink and had a lighter taste to it.

Japanese Style Hot Pot – RM13.90
Dung Bo Noodle – RM8.90
Fried Dumpling – RM8.90
Jasmine Tea – RM3.90
Green Tea – RM2.00

Nanpuchai and The Best Mee Goreng

Are you a fan of mee goreng? Well, guess what?

I found the most delicious mee goreng i’ve ever had in my life in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I’m not kidding. It’s simple but oh so aromatic and spicy. Plus it’s not really oily like those in mamaks.

Check out our very own food-video segment ala ‘Ho Chiak’. Watch till the end coz we also showcased another famous Cambodian delicacy called ‘Nanpuchai<'.

Yo! Sushi… more like yewwww sushi

I don’t have much photo’s taken in this sushi outlet coz i wasn’t in the mood. The food was really not that good. Expensive. Not much variety.

As we sat down, one of the staff asked us whether it was our first time at Yo! Sushi. I answered yes. Then she launched into a long boring explanation on how to order and take from the belt… i was so -_-”. *WTF?! It’s a no brainer. Every sushi outlet is the same. You either take from the conveyor belt or you order from the menu. What’s there to explain? She should have asked us whether it’s our first time eating sushi…

yoshushi
Yo! Sushi

The only good thing was they have free flow green tea *duh! and miso soup. Besides that, there’s nothing really great.

It was really expensive. Prices vary according to the plate colors as per-below:-

Green – RM3.00
Blue – RM5.00
Purple – RM6.00
Orange – RM10.00
Pink – RM14.00
Grey – RM16.00
Green tea – RM3.00
Miso soup – RM5.00

Don’t be fooled by the RM3.00 and RM5.00. You think its cheap right? At Yo! Sushi, RM3 will only get you one plate of tiny unappetizing maki… and for RM5.00 there’s nothing much coz i don’t really remember seeing anything within that price on the belt. I couldn’t help but feel cheated and forced to get the expensive dishes.

Maki!

There were not alot to choose from. The ramen and rice didn’t really look that good in the menu so we didn’t order any.

The sushi were too big and not compact enough so it just drops off into my plate when i bite them.

spiderroll
Spider roll

The only thing that tastes ok was the rolls. We had a spider roll and a salmon skin roll. But that too wasn’t especially delicious.

Hmm… coming from a UK ori, i guess i shouldn’t have expected much… i don’t even want to mention about the service there…<

Purple Cane Tea Restaurant All Over Again

It was mom’s birthday on 25th November! To celebrate we reserved a table for 8 at Purple Tea Cane Restaurant. *old folks love Chinese food and tea ma!

I had reviewed that restaurant last month but if you are interested to read it again CLICK HERE.

For the benefit of those who are not familiar with this restaurant, all the dishes are cooked with tea leaves or tea itself.

4vege
Vegetable 4 in 1 with pickle–>> petais, ladies fingers, brinjals and long beans)

Besides the 2 dishes that i had already tried on my last visit (the Vegetable 4 in 1 with pickle and Herbal Steamed Egg) , we had 2 more additional new dishes and 4 different types of herbal soups.

egg
Herbal steamed egg

One pot of soup cost RM5.00 but i must warn you that one pot of soup is just something like a mini teapot which could only fill about 6-7 tea mini cups full of soups. For the 8 of us we ordered 4 different types of soup so we could at least taste the variety. There were the Burdock Tea Soup, Ginseng Tea Soup, Tea & Wine Soup and Lotus Root Tea Soup. Each of us had 1 tea cup of each type.

herbalsoup
Cute mini tea pot of soups…looks much bigger in photo :P

Despite the small portions, it was just enough to warm our growling tummies. I especially liked the Tea & Wine Soup. The ginseng one was quite good but i don’t really like ginseng so… uhm… no thank you!

teapot
Tea pots yay!

The HM Beancurd *err..i forgot what HM stands for…sorry, was super tasty. The beancurd was very smooth and i loved the ‘tau si’ (i don’t know what’s it call in English so if anyone of you know please tell me) on top of it.

tauhu
Beancurd smooth like baby skin wakakaka

We also had the Bean Paste Fish but i am ashamed to say that i did not manage to take any photo of that dish. Why? Coz i was busy gobbling up the fish! It’s a clear and mild dish with thinly sliced pieces of fish, tomato, capsicum, carrot and cauliflower… if i remember well.

Again, as i had said many times on my first review, i love this restaurant to pieces. Great food, excellent service and worth a visit!

NOTE: There is 10% off for if payment is made using HSBC credit card.
