Is the Big Apple really BIG and TASTY?
***********************************************
Mr. Dou-Nuts and i have an exclusive relationship. I think of him when i am idle. I think of him when i am swamped. I think of him before i go to bed. Heck, sometimes i even dream of him!
I don’t mind not having him around all the time. But when he’s around i am the happiest chick around. When he’s away, i will miss his savory fragrance and good supple body.
I love him. I want him. God dammit, i need him!

Wooaaa! Stop, stop! Don’t get imaginative alright? I’m just talking bout some yummy donuts. Donut fans out there, (raise your hands guys!) would know what i meant *yeah, uh-huh.
Ok, back to business. I guess by now, most of you had already heard about and even tried out the latest donut-sensation in town. That’s right, i’m talking about the very famous Big Apple Donut & Coffee outlet set up in the Curve, Mutiara Damansara during this mid-year.
I understand all the hype going on bout this outlet. After years of relying on Dunkin Donuts for some… um… hard and dry supply of donuts, to donut-lovers, Big Apple is heaven.
Note:
The Big Apple’s recipe is from New York but they do not have any outlets there. Do not mistake it for the Big Apple Bagels franchise in US. The Big Apple here is a Malaysian company with currently 2 outlets (one in the Curve, Mutiara Damansara, and another in Seremban). Only the technology is imported from US.

Too many crazy donut fans makes taking pics a hard time
I’ve received tons of comments from friends and read gazillions reviews on the net about the delicious donuts. There were even a segment on NTV7’s ‘Life Session!’ showcasing the new shop. Unfortunately, i did not have the chance to check it out until recently.

Mine are the 2 on the right… *paiseh
So i checked out the shop and found a crowd outside the outlet. I wanted to take pics of the entrance but i didn’t want to embarrass myself. Instead, i took a few pic inside while queuing. The staff looked at me as if i’m an idiot…
One glance and you can see that everyone there is purchasing 1/2 dozen or 1 dozen of donuts coz it’s more of a bargain. (It costs RM2 per piece, RM9.50 for 6 pieces and RM17 for 12 pieces). Being the only one buying 2 pieces was… awkward. *i’m poor. So, sue me!
California Almond tastes the same as Dunkin’s but much better and not as sweet. I absolutely adore Tango Mango especially the middle part with mango flavored cream.

After finally tasting the Big Apple’s donuts, i conclude:-
6 reasons why the BIG APPLE IS DA BOMB!
1) More varieties in flavor available for selection.
2) Cheekily named donuts such as Bananarama, Tango Mango, Cocoring, Choreo, etc… *very creative!
3) Absolutely chic packaging which made me want to get some just to have the box for keeps.
4) Soft, moist donuts. I find Dunkin’s very dry and hard.
5) Delicious toppings.
6) A plain glazed donut FOC for each purchase of drinks *i don mind if it’s plain as long as it’s free!
3 reasons why the BIG APPLE SHOULD BE BOMBED!
1) Bad interior arrangement. Donuts were displayed in a single long counter. In order to see all the varieties, i had to walk all the way to the end. By the time i had made up my mind, the next few customers is already right behind me… *argh!! It’s either you remember all the names of the donuts and tell the staff your choices OR you point like an idiot hoping the staff gets the correct ones… *so stupid.
2) Extremely long queue each time i passed by. From morning to night… *let me in you crazy people!
3) The donuts were small in size and not fluffy at all contradictory to everyone’s comments. I could barely taste the donut.
Back to my first question. Is the Big Apple really BIG and TASTY? Big? Not at all. Tasty? Almost.
